Le Book Connection Award
I'm thrilled to announce that my project "Pantone Color of the Year: Peach Fuzz" has been honored with the Le Book Connections Award! It all started when food stylist and pastry chef Hadley Sui approached me with a captivating idea: to capture the essence of the Pantone Color of the Year 2024, affectionately named Peach Fuzz, through food photography.
After a dynamic brainstorming session, we decided on showcasing Peach gummies, Meringue, Bellini, and fruit yogurts as our subjects. Together, we meticulously crafted a mood board and defined the art direction, setting the stage for our shoot. And with the talented hand model Danielle Iwata on board, our creative vision truly came to life.
I'm thrilled to share the fabulous results of our collaborative efforts, and I'm grateful for the recognition from Le Book LA Connections. You can see the full project here.

THE LUUPE
How Women Are Shaping the Future of Food Photography
The Luupe profiled me and my work, alongside that of some dear colleagues, for this story on women infusing new energy into food photography.
“Abeler sees food photography becoming more artful and diverse, with brands starting to develop their own distinct visual style. ‘They are thinking about the soul of their company, not just visually but politically,’ she says. ‘They are figuring out what they are about to become a leader with their own unique voice so they can separate themselves from the competition better. I think also as the whole of advertising is getting more diverse, you see more women, people of color, and gender identities. That’s where it’s going and everyone will be included. The people who present the food will be real people.’”

For this interview for WNYC’s The Leonard Lopate Show, I share some food photography secrets and quick tips for the everyday Instagram user.

Michael Harlan Turkell is a former cook, a James Beard Award-nominated food photographer, and the host of ‘The Food Seen’ on Heritage Radio Network. Evi Abeler is a fine art and food photographer in New York City whose work has appeared in Food & Wine Magazine, HarperCollins books, as well as Whole Foods. FOOD & WINE
Digital Food Awards
I was honored with a Food & Wine Digital Food Award for my food photography for Whip + Click and was profiled in this feature alongside my fellow winners.
“Photographer Evi Abeler creates striking, minimalist images of seasonal dishes made by her blogging partner, pastry chef Albane Sharrard. In her Harlem, New York, studio, she takes a DIY approach to styling, using hand-dyed linens, say, or repurposing salvaged wooden flower boxes as stands. ‘If you make your own things, you know you won't see them someplace else,’ she says. Her favorite prop is her ‘magic’ fork. ‘It's vintage, with a beautiful patina and simple shape. Can't get a picture right? Use the magic fork.’"
