projects New York City's Manhattanville is a prime example of a “Vague Terrain,” not only because the place itself is “un-settled,” but because its future is as well. Two opposing visions generally polarize the discussion of vague spaces in West Harlem. The first decries the disorder, decay, and blight they represent. The second, by contrast, highlights their potential as spaces where artistic, religious, and cultural freedoms can flourish. The Holga camera creates accidents and light leaks which add to the vague terrain.
